Faith Formation
Chapel in the Pines offers a variety of programs that will foster growth of our faith in a welcoming atmosphere in small groups. If you have ideas about forming a small group, please discuss them with the chair of the Faith Formation Committee (click here to contact us). We are open to new groups and also encourage your involvement in the groups now formed. We hope you will find the right group for you.

Children's & Youth Ministries
Jesus welcomed children, so we do, too!
Chapel in the Pines offers many different opportunities for children and youth to explore and form faith.
Nursery
Nursery care is offered for children birth-4 years old during both Sunday worship services. Parents and caregivers are invited to bring children to the church nursery, located in the educational wing, beginning at 9:00AM. Our nursery staff and volunteers offer nurturing, safe childcare aimed at modeling God’s love and care for creation.

Children in Worship
Worshiping God together is at the center of our lives as disciples of Christ. As such, we believe it is important that all of God’s children (regardless of age) have access to corporate worship. Therefore, we encourage children to participate in worship services.
To support and nurture our young disciples during worship, we offer a few special opportunities during worship services:
Time With Young Disciples: During each worship service, our children’s and youth director will offer a child-friendly scripture reading and message. The Time With Young Disciples provides an opportunity for our young disciples to connect scripture with their lived experiences.
Sacred Art Time: Following the Time With Young Disciples during the 9:15 and 10:00 combined services, children ages 3 and up are invited to join adult staff and volunteers in the Hall for All for Sacred Art Time. During Sacred Art time, young disciples discuss the Time With Young Disciples, dig deeper into the scripture reading through art, and form relationships with one another. Those participating in Sacred Art time will return to the sanctuary following the pastor’s sermon.
Sacred Art is not offered during the 11:00 a.m. worship. Children of all ages are welcome to attend at 11:00 a.m. Quiet activities are provided for younger children.
Inter-generational Faith Formation Opportunities
Opportunities to connect with people of all ages help us grow our faith! Chapel in the Pines offers a variety of inter- generational faith formation experiences. While these are often held in the Hall for All between the two Sunday morning worship services (10:00-10:45AM), sometimes we schedule events at other times. Be sure to visit the church calendar to learn about upcoming inter-generational faith formation activities. [calendar click HERE]
Elementary Faith Formation
From 3:00-4:30 on Sunday afternoons, elementary school students from 2nd through 6th grades meet in the Hall for All for fellowship for Sunday Afternoon Faith Formation Time. Our time together mixes fellowship, Bible study, faith exploration and fun for young disciples.
Youth Group
From 5:00-6:30 on Sunday afternoons, youth in 7th through 12th grades meet in the Hall for All. This youth group explores a deeper understanding of the Christian faith and will participate in the following activities through study, service, and fellowship.
The youth group also goes on at least two weekend mission trips, hosts church-wide opportunities for service, and periodically helps to lead Sunday worship services.
Summer Youth Conferences
Our children and youth have many opportunities to continue to explore their faith during the summer months! We generally invite our young disciples to participate in the following summer camps.
(generally for rising 6th through 8th grades)
(generally for rising 9th grade through graduated seniors)
(for college-aged young adults)
Note that we will register as a group for all conferences that we attend. Chapel in the Pines generally covers a portion of conference registration fees and related expenses. Please contact Joelle Brummit-Yale for more information about these opportunities.
