Meet our New Members

Jim and Jackie Walters have been married for 48 years. They followed their friends, Tim and Lynn White, to Fearrington Village in the summer of 2017 and now have followed them to Chapel in the Pines! After almost 40 years in the Washington, DC area, they are enjoying retirement in North Carolina. They have one son Christopher who lives in Portland, Oregon. Jim was born and raised in Rochester, NY and graduated with a BA in History from LeMoyne College and a MA in teaching from Colgate University. Jim spent 26 years globetrotting in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and then as a Medical Service Corp Officer. Now fully retired he enjoys being a rotary club member and having the freedom to travel and take educational courses. Jackie grew up in Johnstown, PA, and earned a bachelor’s degree at Seton Hill College, a Catholic women’s college in western PA. She also has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Colgate University and a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington (Seattle). As a Navy wife, she forged a career as a teacher, law librarian and Red Cross volunteer. Along with their son, Christopher, they enjoyed their nomadic life that enabled them to explore our wonderful country and live overseas. Currently, Jackie volunteers for Red Cross National Headquarters and she enjoys reading, singing, traveling, and being involved in community programs.
