September 3, 2018 E-mail Session Vote

Present: Barbara Amago, Karen Atkins, Stan Campbell, Pat Chappell, Paul Harrell, Paul Isom, John McDowell, Maggie Reif, Terry Rudolph

Finance and Administration have offered the following motion and is requesting an email vote on this time sensitive authorization:

To authorize a $500 engineering study to determine the feasibility of installing a solar energy system at CITP that would qualify for Duke Energy’s solar rebate program; $500 cost would be from CITP’s environmental restricted fund that a donor has already established for such opportunities.

Please vote yay or nay, and reply only to me.

Background
It is time sensitive to enable CitP to get on a wait list should the Session vote to move forward after the study’s results are received and funding is determined (it pays for itself but there are upfront costs for the system and installation). This $500 request is just to move it along before we miss the wait-list for the rebate.   Southern Energy Management, the company that installed the Pittsboro Pres’ solar system, has been asked to develop a proposal for such a system for CitP. We will require multiple bids if session votes in the fall to approve moving forward.  A formal proposal will be upcoming to the session this fall, if the engineering study proves the system to be advantageous to CitP. If adopted this program would help us move toward the Mission and Service goal of becoming an Earth Care Congregation.

Respectfully submitted
