Congregational Meeting
May 4, 2008 – 3:00 p.m. – North Chatham School, Chapel Hill, NC
On behalf of the Administrative Commission of Salem Presbytery, The Reverend Sam Marshall, General Presbytery, called the Congregational Meeting to order and led the congregation in prayer. The congregation elected Mary Donna Pond as Clerk of the Congregational Meeting. The first item of business was the election of Elders and Deacons. Harriet McGraw, chair of the Nominating Committee, put forth the following names:

Those named for Elder were presented to the congregation as a slate. Sam Marshall shared with the congregation our constitutional foundations for the offices of elder, deacon and pastor. There were no nominations from the floor. The slate was elected by the congregation.
Those named for deacon were presented to the congregation as a slate. There were no nominations from the floor. The slate was elected.
Bill Browder propounded the constitutional questions for elder and deacon. Jim Rissmiller propounded the constitutional questions for the congregation. Those questions having been answered in the affirmative, those to be ordained were asked to kneel if able, and those present who were previously ordained were invited to come forward for the laying on of hands. A prayer of ordination and installation was offered by Don Kerns. Sam Marshall declared the officers duly elected, ordained, and installed.
The congregation was then presented with a nominee for Pastor, the Reverend Mindy Douglas Adams. A motion was made to elect her as the installed pastor of the Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church. Following a second, there was no discussion and the moderator put the question, which was answered in an unanimous affirmation, and she was declared elected. The constitutional questions for the pastor were propounded by Minnie Sue and Jerry Douglas, parents of the pastor. Jim Rissmiller propounded the constitutional questions for the congregation. Sam Marshall declared the pastor duly elected and installed. Mary Donna Pond delivered a charge to the pastor. Jim Rissmiller presented a charge to the congregation. Following the singing of Love Divine, All Loves Excelling, Jim Rissmiller declared the actions of the day duly carried out and pronounced the granting of the charter for the Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church U.S.A. Reverend Adams closed the congregational meeting and official duties of the Administrative Commission with a prayer and benediction.
