Minutes of March 9, 2014 Congregational Meeting

Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church

The meeting was called to order immediately following worship in the Sanctuary.  Mindy Douglas opened the meeting with a prayer.

Mary Donna Pond was elected as Clerk for the meeting and declared a quorum present.

Mindy stated the purpose of the meeting was twofold:  the election of officers and approval of a change in the Pastor’s Terms of Call.

Mindy then invited Ron Greene, Kenneth McIntyre, Josh Ladd, and Susan Cyr, nominees for Deacon, to tell the congregation why they feel called to serve.  Kenneth, Josh, and Susan were nominated for three-year terms, ending in May 2017; Ron was nominated to serve a one-year term, through May 2015.  

Michelle Morehouse, chair of the Nominating Committee, offered the names of Heather Bogan and Kristin Lavergne to be elected Ruling Elders and to serve on the Session through May 2017.  One remaining nominee is being sought as well as one member for the Nominating Committee.  Michelle asked those present to consider suggesting someone to serve.  In Heather’s absence, Mindy read a written statement from Heather about why she feels called to serve.  Kristen also spoke about her sense of calling.

Mindy asked the congregation for other nominees for the office of Deacon.  A motion was made to close the nominations and elect Ron, Kenneth, Josh and Susan by acclamation.  The motion was seconded and passed.

Mindy asked the congregation for other nominees for the office of Ruling Elder.  A motion was made to close the nominations and elect Heather and Kristin by acclamation.  The motion was seconded and passed.

Mindy thanked Michelle and the others on the Nominating Committee for their work.

Mindy invited Rachel Stevens, chair of the Personnel Committee, to come forward.  As the next item of business involved a change to her Terms of Call, Mindy left the meeting.  Rachel reported that the Nominating Committee has recommended a 2% salary increase as a change in the Terms of Call and that the Session had approved this increase.  She moved that the congregation approve this change.  The motion was seconded and was passed without dissent.

Mitzi Lesher-Thomas closed the meeting with a benediction at 11:45 a.m.
