A Lenten Invitation to the Congregation:
Give To, Act Together

The Mission and Service committee has been meeting regularly over conference calls to prioritize our giving in this time of crisis. Ten percent of the church’s offerings are tithed to support local and global programs that address hunger, education, medical care, environmental issues and racial equity. Since the beginning of the health crisis, the committee has been concentrating on providing food aid to children and families in our area. We have given as follows:

$500 to Fuel Up Perry Harrison and $500 to the West Chatham Food Pantry. Both of these organizations provide food to school children while the schools are in an extended closure.

$2000 to the CORA Food Pantry in Pittsboro and $1000 to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, which supplies food pantries across our state.

The Mission and Service Committee invites the congregation to add to this effort. Instead of giving up something for Lent, you can give to someone. The need is great. CORA has seen the number of families seeking temporary food aid triple in the last weeks. Please consider supporting these organizations.

You can either donate directly to the programs or through our church website at www.citppc.org by CLICKING HERE. Select “Food Pantries” under Fund options. The committee will stay in contact with these organizations and distribute funds to address the greatest, immediate needs.

The committee recognizes the importance of suspending large group gatherings, such as Sunday morning worship. But though we may not be together, we can act together to support our community.

In hope and gratitude,
