The meeting was called to order by Lynn Stall at 6 PM and opened with prayer. She shared a devotion. A quorum was present. Rev. Stall stated the purpose of the meeting was to take further steps in the planning process begun on February 5.  She asked for input on yesterday’s meeting. Lynn will work toward perhaps getting the PNC nominating process underway.

Mission
Lynn asked the session to turn to the church‘s mission and the core values – welcome, worship and witness. What is the church’s purpose? The existing mission

We welcome all people into our community of faith

We worship God with gratitude for the grace given to all people through Jesus Christ

We witness the love of Christ through our gifts of time, talents and resources as we grow together in faith.

Heather moved

that we reaffirm the 3 words and mission statement, bolding the 3 words in the mission statement.

Al seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.

Lynn suggested that at some point we need to tie goals to the mission. There was discussion on ideas to grow the church, including how to use the fellowship hall, doing a Strobilus event for children. There was discussion on appointing a task force chaired by the Fellowship Chair to work on the fellowship hall. Lynn will put the request in the bulletin for volunteer members and Lynne Hoerter will make an announcement in the service about the formation of the task force and recruiting volunteers

The Finance Committee will work on strategies for dealing with the debt. The committee will also educate the congregation on the finances.
Session had discussion on the DCE. Maggie has a contact to whom she will reach out about children’s programming. Barbara will head a task force on children’s programming to develop a recommendation for session on children’s programming.  Barbara will reach out to folks to volunteer

Lynne moved

That we take the $5000 from the endowment to hire a company to create a new web site and social media strategy

The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Communication and Technology will work on future signage pending the parking lot and road being paved.

The session will not hold the March retreat, waiting perhaps for the Fellowship and Children’s task forces to get some plans underway.

There being no further business, Lynn closed the meeting with prayer and it was adjourned at 7:15 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Marcia Ladd
