 Word of the Day
The word for Father in Aramaic when used in more intimate and familiar speech. Jesus used it (Mark 14:36) as did early Christians (Romans8:15, Gal 4:6).

February 2011 Building News

In the month of February a lot of progress was made toward the commencement of construction.

A contract was signed with Dreaming Creek Timber Frame Company.  Wood for the timbers has been ordered and will be delivered in several weeks to Dreaming Creek. Upon delivery, the timbers will be dried in a kiln for 30 days after which time that can be cut and prepared for delivery to our site.

A letter of intent was signed with C. T. Wilson Construction Company.  This will enable prices offered by their subcontractors to be “locked in” immediately, thereby eliminating costs escalation going forward.  We are waiting for final pricing for the site and electrical work.  Once those numbers are available, a contract will be signed with C.T. Wilson. This should occur in the next two weeks.

Our site plan has been submitted to Chatham County Planning Department.  We anticipate approval before the end of March.

On February 24th, at the committee’s most recent meeting with the architect and builder, it was decided to reduce the size of Phase 1 by 900 plus square feet.  By repurposing space previously allocated for storage to classroom space, our immediate needs will be met with smaller space.  This new plan will be designated as Phase 1-A.  The 900+ square feet we will not be building until money becomes available, will be designated Phase 1-B. This represents a cost savings of $120,000 putting us in line with the desired budget. The building permit will be submitted for approval including Phase 1-B so at any time we are able, construction can begin on the additional space.

We anticipate construction beginning by the end of March. As soon as permits are approved, C. T. Wilson can begin site work.  Once work commences, the estimated construction time is 8 to 10 months.
